felt that i needed a roller coaster ride a few months ago, to get some thrill of hurling myself around at high speeds, going through sudden elevation changes and being spun around and flipped over.
the nearest place to get some was at the lagoon. haven't been there in more than 5 years, the last time was with a water-loving cousin.
nothing beats having almost the entire theme park to yourself and your group of friends. of course, with lesser people comes smaller waves at the pool, and no water surfing. nevertheless, being able to enjoy each ride without queuing up at all made it up for that.
i must have played a little too much on the rather dangerous Gang Slide. on run 5, i landed sideways in my tube and flipped over, scraping the sandy floor with my knees and getting a nasty scratch. a trip to the infirmary resulted in an incident report and that ride being closed. i should have stopped at 4.
having a bandage means i can no longer get wet for the rest of the day. so onto all the other dry park rides, including 3 times in a row on the roller coaster formerly known as Runaway Train, and once on the 360° swing Pirate's Revenge.
it's refreshing to be hanging upside down once in a while. i couldn't go for a second or third on that one because the operators won't run the ride for only one passenger. it wasn't that bad. why won't people go for seconds or thirds?
my day there ended with a short visit to the little zoo in the resort. the large macaws, although a little unfriendly, will perch on hands or shoulders and willingly come over if offered a hand. but try that when it is on a branch, and it will greet your fingers with its beaks.
